CTE Academy
We are so proud to announce the Mt. Pleasant High School CTE 2026 Scholar of the Year and the Cabarrus County Schools CTE Scholar of the Year:
Torren Bumgarner!!
Torren has completed 12 CTE classes, Internship with Griffin Masonry, 2 CTE Advanced Study courses in which he project managed the construction of the 100th Anniversary Wall. He has competed in Skills USA where most recently he placed 14 / 63 in Masonry 2. He scored a Platinum Level on the Work Keys Assessment. He created the Academy Summit which is mentorship program for our Academy freshmen. Torren was an Academy Ambassador for 2 years that traveled to the CCS Middle Schools for Program Choice. He was always present at Open House showcasing his love for the trades, speaking to parents and prospective students. Torren was also the runner up in the Mr. MP Pageant where he showcased his talent in brick laying. This was a huge fundraiser for the CTE department. He quickly got out of his comfort zone to raise money for CTE. Torren will be continuing his studies at Appalachian State University.

Academy of Architecture and Construction (AoAC)

The AoAC offers courses in the following trades and business along with the opportunity to earn credentials in those pathways:
- Masonry I, II, III (Honors Courses)
- Credentials in OSHA 10 and NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research)
- Electrical I, II, III, and IV (Honors Courses)
- Credentials in OSHA 10 and NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research)
- Interior Design Fundamentals and Interior Design Studio (Honors Courses)
- Credential in Pre-Professional Certification in Interior Design Fundamentals
- Entrepreneurship I & II (Level 2- Honors Course)
- Credential in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Industry Certification
Rising Freshman (first year) should select depending on pathway:
Electrical I Honors
OR
Masonry I Honors
OR
Interior Design Fundamentals Honors
PLUS
Entrepreneurship I as their academy courses.
During the second year:
Select the second level course:
PLUS Entrepreneurship II Honors
Academy of Architecture and Construction (4 classes required - 1 career pathway which includes a second level course + 2 business classes)
Students have the opportunity to complete more than one trade pathway.
****Many tradesmen own their own busines; therefore, the Academy of Architecture and Construction is pairing a trade pathway with a business pathway. These courses can lead to a career, community college, and/or a four-year college or university.****
